Kayagofukin is made of mosquito net cloth carefully woven in Nara Prefecture, the only remaining mosquito net production area in Japan, and embroidered and printed in Wakayama Prefecture.
It is said that the cloth was first made by female workers at a mosquito net factory, who sewed several pieces together and started making them for their own use, out of wasteful waste from defective fabrics and leftover fabrics from cutting.
At first, the fabric is stiff and taut because of the glue, but when the glue is removed with lukewarm water or hot water, the fabric shrinks surprisingly. The result is a soft, fluffy, and supple texture. It also has excellent water absorbency (1.3 times that of cotton), dries quickly, and is durable.
It can be used in a variety of ways, such as as a hand towel, a vegetable drainer, and a dish towel. When they are worn out, they can be used as kitchen wipes or dust cloths. We are glad that it can be used for a long time.
